In 2000 I spent the summer in Cuba, travelling around the island and studying Spanish in an intensive course at the University of Havana. As an Agricultural Systems and the Environment student at UC Davis I was intrigued by a country that still practiced a relatively unindustrialized agriculture and visited many rural subsistence farms as well as urban community gardens. These photos are from a photography show that I mounted in a UC Davis gallery upon my return.
