Lunch Club was a game that I designed and created these posters for. I wanted to bring the idea of the gift economy into play, to encourage people to take it seriously.

David Bollier defines a gift economy in the introduction of his book “Silent Theft” as follows: A gift economy is not so much a physical resource as a social and moral system by which sharing, collaboration, loyalty, and trust are cultivated within certain commons.

Lunch Club functioned as a blind lunch that I set up between willing strangers at California College of the Arts. Lunch Clubbers brought a little food to share and spent half an hour or so with a few other people in their studios or outside.

The game finished with a small booklet that tells people how they can create their own Lunch Club.
